MOTHER NATURES FAREWELL

No, I've never seen your world
I was your world
And there somehow I missed
The chance to take your hand
To cut your left
Right from your crooked wrist.
Goodbye cruel Sons of mine.

No, I never felt your touch
But of your tools, I've had enough
The sword and spear you hold so dear
Feed nothing now
But your hates and fears and power.
So long cruel Sons of mine.

No, I haven't seen your art
To know thyself, it is a start
But the pride in your paint
And in your sculpture and song;
If it looks good, you're looking at it wrong.
Farewell cruel Sons of mine.

To my dear Daughters
See that your Courters
Love life not slaughter
And remember me.

THE SPACIOUS BANE (er, working title)

To exist is unfair
While there's a barren planet out there
Willing not but to sphere
No hope that it's star grows nearer
Though billions pass by but none hear
Prayers forever silent and unsaid
When a barren planet's born dead

MOTHS IN THE GRILL

I am a Bogong Moth
Born of a small flutter
My ancestors once migrated north
By The Moon
But we migrate no longer

We found ourselves lost
Twenty generations ago
After wind and rain blew us east
To a land we did not know

And at the cost of many
We eventually found a feast
On a stranded pine tree
We fear now ever leave

Our faith was lost in the moon
That refused to lead us home
They say it only sent us to dirt and rock
To eat and drink from stone

When we denounced the moon
Two new gods took its place
They visit our pine from time to time
But it seems to me they're in a race

They come at night
As we enjoy the warm road
Not a hundred beats from the tree
As is our new code

They take with them the best of us
To where we are not sure
It's for the best I'm told
But for the wind
And the loud n terrible roar

I look at the moon when nobody is watching
It begs me to fly and to follow
But why risk death
When the our new gods come to us
And our pine will be there tomorrow!

SUNRISE, SUNSET

Strange that given all this time
You have me only two short names assigned.
On each appearance my arrangements are unique!
And twice a day I'm in plain sight you'd think
More names should be given
Definitely
But of course this old issue of names
Is comparably petty
As your soul's in jeopardy
And your spirit's at risk
Perhaps if I revealed some small truth to you
Yourself and then my names you might fix

Of bronze and maple were this morning's colours I displayed
Colours never before seen by you
Despite being immersed in them yesterday
Because those were small or hidden, and useless you claim?
Well your blindness was pardoned then
but never again

Reborn and Roaring were those same colours this morning
And you took a quick glance but decided them boring!
Colours enough have you Human?
Colourful enough are your days?
Fooled are those who believe themselves full
But somehow make room for a helping of praise
What little real faith you must have in your true capacity
To dismiss my offering with such a sense of conservancy
I wonder if you will feel anger or even sorrow
When you learn that all the colours I use
From your pallet I borrow!

Yes, the colours I use are yours and not mine
But do not dare to shout Theft
You're guilty of a much darker crime
The colours I use I find abandoned and unclaimed!
I take them while you paint your day in blacks
And highlight it in greys

Day by day I arrange for you second chances to see
Else your colours go forever unused and forgotten
Else they cease to be!
Else you find yourself in darkness
Painting black on black on black
And no more colours shall you thereafter use nor see
Even while looking back!

WALK ON WATER

How significant you are
Oh fleeting being of The Earth
So proud and poorly
So feeble but unafraid
Oh cheer victor cheer!
You feel glory for The Stars
You embody The Planets out there
Cold and battered you learned to sail
See how you stirred The Storm and rode The Surge
And found a fight when you set wing to flight
See how you excite The Atom!
See how you burn The Sun!
You measure The Infinite
You are The Grace and The Dance
We are The Dreamers you and I
Imagine no end
Walk on water with me My Friend!

On My Way Home

Hey there
I heard one say
We'll take you home
Follow us
We know the way

So I joined the line
Down the climb
They promised me
Would take me home

Come with us
I heard one say
If you want to pray
It best be done this way
Keep your eyes closed
And forget the time of day
You're nearly home

So long
I heard one say
As he stood and ran
Up the crest and flew away

I was told by the rest
To save my best
For when I get home

A Trip To Mars

I woke up in the bathroom mirror
And Spent the day there
Looking ill
I left it for an open window
And spent the evening
At the sill

The stars appeard only to look me over
I stood at attention
And lost the rest of my will
I floated out the open window
And found the red one
That sat most still

When I got back to the bathroom mirror
My face was set in a blood red cast
If I had known I wouldn't have left
If I had known the trip would be my last

I spent the evening in an empty mirror
And never saw the stars again
I found myself in the sink in the water
And the blood would not wash out

Now I stare out from the mirror
With no one on the other end
My body's buried at the planet
There I died
When I killed my friend

LUCY IN THE CLOUDS WITH SUNSETS

Love stares at yourself with a smile and inhale
Years stacked on a shelf
And many more in the sky

You dance into sunsets
Behind you very complimentary
Where soaring between
True moments there lie

Love stares at you brightly
From the west
Near the future
The colours you see
They brighten your eyes

You smile and inhale
At yourself loving dearly
One mind on the moment
Two minds either side
